Targets have been set for new affordable housing builds as part of the City of Hamilton’s Housing and Homelessness Action Plan.
Story behind the numbers
In 2017, 102 new affordable rental units were approved. These developments all support achievement of the goals set out in the City of Hamilton’s Housing and Homelessness Action Plan.
New affordable rental development is generally reliant on investment from the City of Hamilton and upper levels of government of up to $200,000 per unit. The ability to continue to build new housing units is reliant on continued funding.
