Importance

Overview of the overall number of residential structure fires the Hamilton Fire Department responds to.

Story behind the numbers

Over 76.5% of all residential structure fires occur in people’s homes. Each response is handled by trained firefighters who through their direct involvement and actions mitigate the incident.

Performance improvements

A reduction in numbers can be reflective of citizens understanding home fire safety and a change in behaviours that often lead to preventable fires.
