Highway 56 Traffic Study

The City of Hamilton initiated a traffic study on Highway 56 (Regional Road 56) between Rymal Road and Cemetery Road in 2017.

The purpose of the study was to:

  • address the needs of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians
  • investigate viable options for upgrading Highway 56 (Regional Road 56) to accommodate current and future projected growth

Based on the preliminary results of this study, it was identified that a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment would be required to implement the study recommendations. As such, the Traffic Study concluded in 2018 and a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment was initiated. View the Regional Road 56 (Dagleish Trail to Cemetery Road) EA
