Master Plans & Class EAs

Highway 8 (Dewitt Road to Fifty Road)

The City of Hamilton initiated the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment or Class EA process for Highway 8 Improvements (Dewitt Road to Fifty Road).

Based on previously completed studies, it was identified that improvements would be required within the corridor to address roadway capacity, transit, active transportation and goods movement as a result of the future growth within the Fruitland-Winona Secondary Plan area.

Location: Highway 8 (Dewitt Road to Fifty Road) is located within the Fruitland-Winona Secondary Plan.

In May 2014, the City adopted the Fruitland-Winona Secondary Plan, which established land uses, transportation network, infrastructure requirements, and development standards to guide development of the area for a 20-year period. In June 2018, the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal approved the Fruitland-Winona Secondary Plan (except for lands subject to site specific appeals).

Study status: Active

Classification: Schedule C (Phases 3 and 4)
