Old Dundas Road Sewage Pumping Station (HC005) Emergency Overflow Feasibility Study

in 2015, The City of Hamilton invoked the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process for the Old Dundas Road Sewage Pumping Station (HC005) in order to  to determine the preferred alternative to provide an emergency overflow from the existing sanitary sewer system or pumping station to protect homes from basement flooding during wet weather events. The study was initially carried out in accordance with the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) document (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 & 2015) as a Schedule ‘C’ project in order to identify and evaluate a range of alternative design concepts and recommend a preferred strategy.

In 2020, the Municipal Class EA Emergency Sanitary Overflow to Ancaster Creek Study was abandoned, the “Do Nothing” alternative was chosen as the preferred solution, and the study findings were documented through a feasibility report.
