What is a Secondary Plan and why is it important?

The goal of a Secondary Plan is to:

  • help understand opportunities and address land use issues in defined areas
  • provide specific policies where more detailed planning direction is needed
  • promote consistency in new or development areas within existing neighbourhoods that require revitalization

Once a need for a Secondary Plan has been identified by the City, residents will be introducted to the study. You can be a part of the planning process by:

  • keeping informed about what is going on in your community
  • attending Public Information Centres and public meetings
What studies are currently underway in my neighbourhood?

Planning and Urban Design Studies are initiated to address various themes relating to social, economic and cultural aspects of the community. These studies may include site-specific or area specific planning and design opportunities.
