Prize collection

Winners can collect their prizes at City Hall, 5th floor during business hours between August 23 and November 15, 2018.

A special thank you to the other eight finalists, each photo captured the beauty in the Industrial Bayfront.

Contest themes

The judges, appointed by the City of Hamilton, judged each photo based on adherence to one or more of the contest themes,, creativity, originality, photo quality, and overall relevance to the Bayfront Industrial Area Strategy project.

Photos must adhere to one or more of these themes:

  • The History and Heritage of the Industrial Bayfront: Images which celebrate and capture aspects of the Industrial Bayfront’s unique cultural heritage and history.
  • The Working Areas of the Industrial Bayfront: Images which focus on present-day industrial and commercial activities in the Industrial Bayfront.
  • The Living Areas of the Industrial Bayfront: Images which capture the unique neighbourhood elements of the Industrial Bayfront.
  • Innovation in the Industrial Bayfront: Images which provide a look into technology, creativity and invention in the Industrial Bayfront.

Timing: Contest ran from June 14, 2018 to July 15, 2018.
Finalists: Up to 12 finalists were selected by the Contest Judges appointed by the City.  Finalists were notified via email or phone by July 24, 2018.
Voting: Public voting took place in-person at the City of Hamilton’s second floor lobby during posted business hours and online on this website from July 30, 2018 to August 10, 2018.
Winners: The First, Second and Third Community Prize Winners are the three finalists who received the top three most public votes. The Judges Prize Winner is the finalist who received the highest cumulative score from the Contest Judges. Winners were notified via email or phone by August 17, announced on this website, and advertised via Twitter.
How your photos may be used: Submitted pictures may be displayed on the City’s website and used in Bayfront Industrial Area Strategy (Bayfront Strategy) material including but not limited to reports and public consultation material with credit to the photographer. Submitted pictures may also be displayed for the public at Bayfront Strategy engagement events to be held throughout the course of the project.
