What goes to the community recycling centre

A Community Recycling Centre is a place where you can drop off things that aren't picked up at the curb. There is no cost to drop off things that will be recycled but you have to pay to drop off garbage at a CRC.

Leaf and Yard

  • Branches – no larger than 2.5 inches in diameter
  • Brush – less than 4 feet long
  • Garden, Hedge and Tree Trimmings
  • Grass Clippings
  • Halloween Pumpkins
  • Christmas Trees (all tinsel and ornaments must be removed)
  • House and Garden Plants
  • Leaves in Yard Bags
  • Fruits and Vegetables from Gardens
  • Woodchips
  • Stumps - 12 to 16 inch no longer than 4 ft, keep the dirt out if there are roots


  • 2x4’s or 2x2’s of clean wood (Pressure treated, painted or stained wood is disposed of as garbage for a fee)
  • Wooden Logs - 12 to 16 inch no longer than 4 ft, keep the dirt out if there are roots


  • Fax Machines
  • Printers (Toner must be drained or removed)
  • Radios / Stereos
  • Electronic Games
  • Scanners
  • Telephone Pagers
  • Digital Cameras
  • DVD Players
  • VCR’s
  • All Computer Monitors go into Monitor Bins


  • Aluminum siding, eaves troughs and wire fencing must be bundled and tied)
  • Appliances with out (CFCs)
  • Barbeques
  • Car Parts
  • Bed Frames
  • Bicycles
  • Engine Parts (All fluids must be drained)
  • Fencing / Posts
  • Lawn Mowers (Engine must be detached and drained)
  • Metal Desks and Sinks
  • Pipes and pipe fittings
  • Porch Railings
  • Artificial Christmas Trees (Only ones with metal base and pole)
  • Light Fixtures (No ballasts)

Appliances (White Goods)

  • Air Conditioners (Window or central air)
  • Water coolers
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Freezers and Refrigerators (No food)
  • Hot Water Tanks (Drained)
  • Water Pressure Tanks
  • Pool Heaters
  • Laundry Machines and dryers
  • Dishwashers
  • Stoves / Ovens / Microwave Ovens
  • Metal weighing 2kg or more

Bulky Rigid Plastic

  • 1-5 Gallon buckets / pails (No larger than 20L, metal handles removed)
  • Plastic baskets (laundry)
  • Lawn furniture (must be 100% plastic)
  • Broken plastic carts / Garbage cans (wheels and axles removed)
  • Plastic children toys, play structures (must be 100% plastic)
  • Plastic soda and milk crates


  • Tires/Rims – 8 per day 

Roofing Materials

  • Shingles (fees apply)
    • Asphalt shingles can be disposed of in the Shingles Bunker at the Transfer Station located inside the Community Recycling Centre (enter the scales at the Transfer Station)
    • Clay and wood shingles can be disposed of in the Garbage at the Community Recycling Centre
