HAMILTON, ON - April 24, 2017 - The City of Hamilton today announced that members of the design and development community are invited to submit projects for the 7th Urban Design and Architecture Awards.
What are the Urban Design & Architecture Awards?
The Urban Design and Architecture Awards is a biennial event that recognizes and celebrates excellence in the design of our urban environment. Owners, urban designers, architects, landscape architects, planners, contractors, engineers, consultants and students are invited and encouraged to submit projects such as:
Groups of buildings
Additions and alterations
Ecological restoration and design projects
Projects must have been completed within that last two years and be located within the City of Hamilton. The deadline for submissions is Friday, June 16, 2017. The award recipients will be announced at a ceremony in November 2017.
Previous winners include projects large and small such as the Lister Block, McMaster Engineering Building, Witton Lofts, Mohawk College Athletic Centre and Learning Exchange, MacNab Transit Terminal and many more.
“High quality urban design and architecture is critically important to the success of any City. These awards are our opportunity to celebrate some of the outstanding projects that have been created in Hamilton over the past two years, and to thank the builders, developers, architects, planners and designers who made those projects happen.” Jason Thorne, General Manager, Planning and Economic Development
“A high quality urban environment contributes to economic and social benefits, including a more sustainable community, an improved image of the City today and in the future, and a sense of pride. Receiving an award signifies not only a stand-out project in and of itself, but also a commitment to city-building.” Mayor Fred Eisenberger, City of Hamilton
