Ready, Set, Show…4 firms vying to develop Pier 8 show their plans to the public

Hamilton, ON. – It’s the final stage for four proponents vying to deliver the Pier 8 waterfront development. Now in this final stage, the Request for Proposals (RFP) required firms to provide both a technical and a financial proposal that closed just days ago on April 4, 2018.

The preferred proponent of the RFP will be given the exclusive opportunity to negotiate with the City of Hamilton for the purchase of the lands in order to build and deliver the Pier 8 waterfront development in Hamilton’s West Harbour.

“This is an exciting time for this major ‘City Building’ project. For the next 11 days, citizens have the opportunity to view the visuals and videos from the four firms and get a feel for how the proposals can help shape the West Harbour.  Along with the interactive website, a multi-location Open House display road show will take place all over the city,” said Chris Phillips, Senior Advisor, West Harbour Re-development Project. “We’re asking citizens to go to the website, play the four videos, have a look at the visuals and share with us their thoughts by answering four short questions.”

The development site has the potential to support approximately 1,500 residential units and 13,000 square metres of commercial and institutional space on nine development blocks. The fully serviced, mixed-use lands are expected to be integrated with a public, recreational waterfront. This development will be part of a multi-year, $140 million waterfront revitalization plan being carried out by the City that is currently underway.
