HAMILTON, ON - It is with sadness we learned of the passing of former Town of Dundas councillor, John Mykytyshyn.

John served on council for the Town of Dundas beginning in 1985 for six years. In addition to his community service career, John was a lifetime member of the Dundas Lions Club and recipient of the Lions International Melvin Jones Fellowship award. John was a true family man and gave back to his community whenever possible. John was also the driving force in fundraising for and creating the Taras Shevchenko Home For The Aged where he proudly served as president from 1983-2020.

Predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Alice, and son Walter, John passed away peacefully in his 89th year. John leaves behind his fiancé of nine years, Jenny Okrainetz, his six children, Darlene (Mike), John, Linda (Alex), Donna, Kathy, and Ross, along with his seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

“John impacted the lives of many with his passion for his community. He served the Town of Dundas with enthusiasm and dedication. His family business, The Golden Valley Inn, was a staple in Dundas and ensured anyone who walked through the doors were treated as family.
