HAMILTON, ON – The City has won a 2021 Music Cities Award in the category of “Best Initiative to Directly Support Musicians” for Hamilton’s Musician Fair Payment Policy. The awards were presented virtually on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. The Music Cities Awards is a global competition designed to acknowledge and reward the most outstanding applications of music for economic, social, environmental, and cultural development all around the world. The awards also aim to promote best practices and demonstrate the value of music to the world.

HAMILTON, ON – Hamilton’s Tourism team has received an Innovation award at the 2021 Ontario Tourism Resiliency Awards. Tourism Hamilton received the award for its promotional campaign created for the second season release of Netflix’s Umbrella Academy, which was largely shot in Hamilton. The campaign promoted the city as both a tourism and filming destination, capitalizing on the show’s use of a Hamilton-based actor and 38 Hamilton locations.

HAMILTON, ON – The City of Hamilton is pleased to share the recipients of the 2021 City of Hamilton Arts Awards. The winners were announced as part of a series of web-based podcast episodes aired during Hamilton Arts week from June 3 through June 12, 2021.  Celebrated author, musician, and visual artist Tom Wilson received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Nine artists and arts managers working in a variety of disciplines received Creator Awards, and four individuals received the new Arts Champion Award recognizing arts sector volunteers.
