HAMILTON, ON – February 15, 2016 – With the recent onset of freezing temperatures, there is the chance that Hamilton residents may experience frozen water pipes in their homes. Hamilton Fire Department reminds building owners that the use of electrical equipment to thaw pipes may create fire hazards.
HAMILTON, ON – February 9, 2016 –The City of Hamilton is warning residents to exercise caution when approached by unsolicited private contractors or representatives who claim to be affiliated with the City or speak about City services. A homeowner recently reported being approached by an individual claiming the municipal drinking water is unsafe and the Ministry of Environment will subsidize further treatment. As part of the sales pitch for water treatment products and services the representative also requested access to the home for an inspection.
HAMILTON, ON – June 23, 2015 – The City of Hamilton is warning residents and business operators to exercise caution when receiving solicitations – by means of flyers or other advertising – that claim affiliation with the City’s programs. The City has been receiving numerous calls about flyers being distributed to residents containing information about City programs such as the backwater valve replacement program and the lead water pipe replacement program. Any notices from the City always include the City logo.

Hamilton’s Public Works Department is holding its annual, one-day rain barrel sale early next month to promote wise water use. By installing a rain barrel, residents are creating their own, free source of water that they can use for their gardens or even washing their cars.
