Community sharps disposal bins to be installed in Hamilton parks

Temporary closure of Globe Dog Park

November 27 2017

HAMILTON, ON – In order to install fencing as part of the improvements to the Hamilton Water Facility, the City of Hamilton will temporarily close Globe Dog Park, located on Brampton Street, east of Woodward Avenue, from December 4 to 8, 2017. The temporary fence will be in place for approximately six months to accommodate construction in the area. The City thanks residents for their patience and cooperation during this temporary closure.

Gage Park play structure gets $200,000 investment and overhaul

HAMILTON, ON – The play structure at Gage Park – one of the city’s largest and most loved parks and a key destination for Hamiltonians and visitors alike – is undergoing a $200,000 replacement that will improve accessibility and encourage physical, sensory and social interaction for all play areas users. The Gage Park play structure replacement is the largest planned for all City of Hamilton parks this year.

Section of the Escarpment Rail Trail closed for removal of Ash trees

September 1 2017

HAMILTON, ON - September 1, 2017 - Beginning next week, approximately 80 dead or dying Ash trees will be removed from along the Escarpment Rail Trail near Limeridge Road. In the interest of public safety, there will be intermittent closures along the trail near Limeridge Road between Tuesday, September 5, 2017 and Friday, September 15, 2017, weather permitting. Cyclists and pedestrians using the trail can go around the closure through Mohawk Sports Park.

Extreme Park Makeover project to take place at North Central Park

HAMILTON, ON - July 6, 2017 - On July 7 and 8, the City of Hamilton, community members, the adopt-a-park group and local children will work to makeover North Central Park. Volunteers and community members will be on site to revitalize the park which will include art panels and freshly painted murals sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hamilton. Additional seating, improved amenities, pollinator patches, shrub beds, and a new Canada 150 seating area will also be added to the park.

Sections of Green Acres Park and Henry & Beatrice Warden Park in Stoney Creek to close for repairs

HAMILTON, ON, February 9, 2017 – The City of Hamilton will be closing sections of Green Acres Park and Henry and Beatrice Warden Park over the coming weeks to restore and stabilize slopes along Battlefield Creek. The trail at Green Acres Park will be closed from February 13 to 17, 2017. The trail and playground at Henry and Beatrice Warden Park will be closed from February 21 to March 17, 2017, weather permitting. Both parks are located in the area of Queenston Road and Centennial Parkway S, along Battlefield Creek.

City Unveils Second Community Clean-Up Trailer

Hamilton, ON – August 11, 2016 – City of Hamilton has unveiled a second community clean-up trailer that will provide volunteers with the tools they need to collect litter, remove graffiti, and weed flower and shrub beds in City parks. The new trailer – the Clean & Green Clean-Up Trailer – was funded by ArcelorMittal Dofasco and the Keep Hamilton Clean & Green Committee. It provides the tools and supplies volunteers need to help keep City parks clean and green.

Grand opening of the Waterdown Rotary Memorial Park Skating Loop

Part of Sam Lawrence Park trail closed for safety concerns

February 8 2016

Hamilton, ON – February 8, 2016 – Hamilton’s Public Works Department has closed access to a 150-metre section of trail in Sam Lawrence Park along the escarpment edge. Staff noticed cracks in the walkways and brought in a structural engineer to further inspect the stairs, walkways and lower viewing deck. As a safety precaution, the trail has been closed.
