GTHA Mayors and Chairs working to protect essential and critical municipal services, continue vaccination rollout in wake of Omicron variant

Yesterday, Mayors and Chairs from the 11 largest municipal governments across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area met to discuss the ongoing response to COVID-19 and the Omicron variant across the region. The Mayors and Chairs are committed to continuing to work with each other along with the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, to save lives and keep people safe.

Resolution reached in Sarcoa litigation

September 6 2019

HAMILTON, ON - With the assistance of Regional Senior Justice Harrison Arrell, the parties to this matter including 1869612 Ontario Inc. o/a Sarcoa, Marco Faiazza, Salvatore (Sam) Destro, the City of Hamilton, and the Hamilton Waterfront Trust were able to amicably resolve the litigation between them relating to "Sarcoa".  No further comment will be made.

Statement from the City of Hamilton regarding IT employee matter

August 16 2019

HAMILTON, ON – The City of Hamilton and Marc Lemire have mutually agreed to end Mr. Lemire’s employment. This decision follows two investigations into Mr. Lemire’s workplace activities. Following these investigations, the City made a decision that Mr. Lemire’s off-duty activities and associations did not reflect the culture, values and beliefs of the City. There was however no evidence that Mr. Lemire inappropriately accessed, utilized or gathered any data, including City emails or private information, or that he inappropriately used any City equipment.
