HAMILTON, ON – The Medical Officer of Health for the City of Hamilton has cancelled the Cold Weather Alert that was initiated on February 7, 2018. Temperatures are no longer at or below minus 15 degrees Celsius or minus 20 degrees Celsius with wind chill.

HAMILTON, ON - The City of Hamilton, the Hamilton Police Service Marine Unit and the Hamilton Conservation Authority are reminding residents of the dangers associated with frozen water around lakes, creeks, streams, and natural or storm water management ponds. Frozen water can be unpredictable and changing temperatures, roadway runoff, and freeze-thaw cycles can make seemingly frozen surfaces unstable and dangerous. Residents should use extreme caution and keep away from frozen waterways unless it is posted safe to do so.

HAMILTON, ON - June 13, 2017 - The Medical Officer of Health has cancelled the heat warning issued on June 11, 2017.

HAMILTON, ON – May 25, 2017 - In the interest of public safety, access to the piers below the Burlington Lift Bridge has been fenced off. Extremely high water levels and wind have created a safety hazard in the area with waves submerging the concrete piers and producing very slippery and potentially dangerous conditions. The Breezeway Trail leading to the piers on the Hamilton side remains open. Residents are reminded to be cautious around all bodies of water, and be aware of possible hazards caused by rain and winds. 

HAMILTON, ON - May 5, 2017 - While the worst of the rain storm has now passed, homeowners in Hamilton are reminded to be cautious around watercourses and to take steps to prevent flooding in and around their homes.   Over the past two days, City crews have been responding to reports of roadway flooding, basement flooding and sewer back-ups throughout Hamilton. Crews will continue to work proactively over the weekend to keep catch basins clear and inspect flooding hot spots across the city.  

HAMILTON, ON - May 4, 2017 -  In the interest of public safety, the City of Hamilton will be closing York Road between Valley Road and Old Guelph Road in Dundas immediately following the evening rush tonight, Thursday, May 4, 2017. York Road will be completely closed to through traffic approximately 1.5 km west of Highway 6 while crews assess the condition of a damaged culvert and embankment that could be a potential hazard during the upcoming rain event. Signs marking an appropriate detour route will be installed in the area tomorrow morning.

HAMILTON, ON - April 30, 2017 - The City of Hamilton has closed the Waterfront Trail due to extremely high winds, unusually high water levels and erosion along the pathway. The trail is currently closed from Bayfront Park to Princess Point and will remain closed until further notice. In the interest of public safety, residents are being asked to avoid the area.

HAMILTON, ON - April 21, 2017 - Due to the significant rainfall event yesterday, the City of Hamilton experienced substantial localized flooding throughout several areas across the city overnight. Most of the flooded areas have subsided, but some areas are still under water. Crews are continuing to respond to the flooding and are working to clear blocked catch basins, inlets and outlets to encourage proper drainage. City staff and contractors will be out cleaning up and clearing debris throughout the day today and into the weekend as necessary.

HAMILTON, ON - March 13, 2017 – With current weather forecasts predicting a significant snowfall across the City starting later today and extending into Tuesday, City of Hamilton winter operations crews are preparing to ensure roads are cleared as effectively as possible.
