Facilities Management Profile

Facility Management provides property maintenance and project management services for all City of Hamilton municipal buildings.  This includes operations, security, and maintenance. As well as being responsible for the renovations of existing City of Hamilton municipal buildings and new construction.

  • Facilities Operations and Maintenance - Activities required to assure the built environment will perform as designed and constructed. This includes the daily activities necessary for buildings and its systems and equipment to perform their intended function.
  • Operations and Maintenance operates the City's facilities and all associated mechanical equipment.  
    • Operating swimming pools and filtration systems meeting Ministry of Health guidelines.
    • Operating refrigeration systems at indoor arenas and outdoor skating rinks within City and TSSA standards.
    • Operating HVAC and building automation systems to maximize air quality and equipment efficiency.
    • Operates and maintains fire and safety systems.
  • Facilities Planning and Business Support – Provides a centralized business support centre including the Facilities Service Centre, which is the central hub for dispatching and managing work requests as well as managing over 40 automated building control systems.  The Facilities Service Centre provides a variety of services to both internal and external customers.
  • Capital Planning, Project Management and Construction - Includes the management and development of the strategic capital plan, building condition assessments, project management including new construction, renovation and life cycle renewal. Capital Planning and Project Management also includes feasibilities and due diligence studies.
  • Compliance - Services include development of compliance programs and procedures, tracking and communicating changes in legislation, regulatory inspection support and management of training programs related to Facilities Management.
  • Accommodations - This subservice includes accommodations/space planning, interior design, workstation reconfiguration, furniture orders, managing surplus furniture and move coordination. This area also develops space allocation guidelines.
  • Stadium Operations - Professional stadium and sport field (Canadian Football League sized) for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Hamilton Forge FC and other various users.
