This service meets the requirements of the Fire Prevention and Protection Act (F.P.P.A.)

The F.P.P.A. requires every municipality to establish Fire Protection Services program that must include public education with respect to fire safety and certain components of fire prevention. The certain components referred to are fire code inspections upon request or complaint and a smoke alarm program.

Additionally, the municipality must also provide other fire protection services as deemed to be necessary, based on its needs and circumstances (a risk assessment). This provides the elected Council with the opportunity to determine which services, the level of services and how the services will be delivered.
