Legal Services Profile
A business support service provided to the City of Hamilton offering legal advice/opinion, legal drafting, and representation/ advocacy before courts and tribunals.
Legal Services facilitates the ability of the City to advance its policy goals, meet its legal obligations, and deliver its services and programs. This service includes:
- Prosecution - Prosecution of charges under City by-laws and Revised Statues of Ontario.
- Civil and Administrative Litigation - Protect rights and legal interest of the City through Courts/Tribunals and alternative dispute resolution. Attend and deal with civil and administrative litigation at all stages.
- Solicitor - Advisory, drafting and review of business and activities of the City and boards and agencies it controls. Facilitate proper exercise of municipal powers, activities and decision-making.
