Parking Operations Profile

This is a public service provided to motorists offering convenient access to parking.

The Hamilton Municipal Parking System is a self-sustaining business unit, financed entirely by user fees and fines. Parking Operations manages the planning, construction and maintenance of on and off street public parking spaces to support the residential and business communities, and the City of Hamilton’s land use, transportation and economic development initiatives.

Performance Measures

How much did you do? (volume)

  • There are approximately 2,700 on-street parking meters and 53/58 municipal parking lots that only take coin payment.
  • Payment machines in the 53 municipal carparks should be upgraded by the end of 2019.  A ‘pay-by-phone’ option should be available by Q2 of 2019 to allow an alternative to coin payment at all parking meters.
