When you fill up your glass with water from your tap, you can be assured that Hamilton’s drinking water is safe to drink. The City of Hamilton’s drinking water consistently meets all Ontario Drinking Water Standards.

I have low water pressure. How do I report it?

There are a number of reasons why you are experiencing low water pressure. Temporary low water pressure could mean a water main break in your neighbourhood. Ongoing low water pressure could be an issue with your water service line. Call 905-546-2489 to report an issue.

Low Level Water Conditions

A low level water condition is declared when a potential for water supply problems is identified through a lack of rain and streamflow levels.

Sewer and Water Line Warranty Program

The City of Hamilton is offering an optional water and sewer line warranty program for Hamilton homeowners in partnership with Service Line Warranties of Canada.

Protecting your home from basement flooding

Hamilton's Residential Protective Plumbing program provides financial assistance and guidance to protect your home from basement flooding as a result of sewer backups.

You may be eligible for a single grant up to $2,000 through the 3P program. 

How to deal with frozen pipes

Water pipes and service lines can freeze when:

  • frost penetrates the ground during long periods of extremely low temperatures
  • they are located in unheated areas without proper insulation
