DARTS Fares and Payment Options

To help reduce the spread of COVID-19,customers are required to wear a non-medical mask on public transit.This extra step can help protect others in spaces where physical distancing can be hard to maintain.Have a question about HSR's response to COVID-19? Visit our FAQ for Transit Customers.


The fares for riding on DARTS are the same as the fares for riding on HSR. Companions pay the same HSR fare according to their age. A support person rides for free with medical certification preapproved by ATS.

HSR is ending sales of paper tickets and passes

However, ATS/DARTS customers will still be able to purchase tickets for a limited time.

PRESTO card payments will be available on DARTS in early 2021. Until then, you have several options to pay your fare.

Option #1 - Paper tickets

ATS/DARTS clients can continue to purchase paper tickets for use on DARTS only, from the HSR Customer Service Centre (36 Hunter St.), or by mail from Accessible Transportation Services. Send a cheque or money order payable to “City of Hamilton” to: ATS, P.O. Box 340, 
Mount Hope, Ontario, L0R 1W0​.

DARTS Seniors tickets will continue to be available to purchase from DARTS drivers.

Your paper tickets will continue to be valid on DARTS until PRESTO equipment is available.

Paper tickets will no longer be sold at any other locations. Paper passes are no longer available.

Option #2 - PRESTO E-Tickets

If you have a smartphone and a credit card, you can pay with the PRESTO E-Tickets mobile app. PRESTO E-Tickets cost the same price as paper tickets and allow for a 2-hour transfer window.

Option #3 - Monthly pass on PRESTO

If you ride often, purchase a Student, Adult or Senior monthly pass on a PRESTO card. Call ATS right away (905-529-1212 ext. 3) and provide us with your PRESTO card number to add to your client profile.

You’ll need to call ATS every month that you renew your monthly pass on PRESTO.
