DARTS Fares and Payment Options

The fares for riding on DARTS are the same as the fares for riding on HSR. Companions pay the same HSR fare according to their age. A support person rides for free with medical certification preapproved by ATS.

HSR is ending sales of paper tickets and passes

Beginning March 15, 2021 HSR is ending the sale of all paper tickets and passes for DARTS clients (including Seniors tickets).

  • DARTS clients can purchase tickets at the HSR Ticket Office until March 31, 2021.
  • Customers using the DARTS service will not have the ability to pay for companions. In order to pay the best fare, it is recommended that companions have their own PRESTO 
  • Purchased paper tickets can be used on DARTS until May 31, 2021. After that date, they will expire and have no value.
  • Convert your tickets to PRESTO before May 31, 2021 at the HSR Ticket office at 36 Hunter St E.

Get your PRESTO Card today

A one-time fee of $6 will get you a card and many benefits, including:

  • A 2-hour transfer window.
  • Load any dollar amount (5¢ or more) online or by using the PRESTO mobile app, or in-person at any Fortinos or Shoppers Drug Mart across Hamilton, the Hunter Street GO Station and participating Municipal Service Centres.
  • Create a PRESTO account and protect your balance. If your card is ever lost or stolen, the balance can be transferred to a replacement card.
  • Set a minimum amount with PRESTO and your money will Autoload from a credit or debit card onto your PRESTO card so you always have enough to travel.

PRESTO E-Tickets

If you have a smartphone (iOS or Android) and a credit card, you can pay with PRESTO E-Tickets.

  • PRESTO E-Tickets are the same price as a single ride on a PRESTO card and provide the same 2-hour transfer window.

Monthly pass on PRESTO

If you ride often, purchase a Student, Adult or Senior monthly pass on a PRESTO card, call ATS right away (905-529-1212 ext. 3) and provide us with your PRESTO card number to add to your client profile. You’ll need to call ATS every month that you renew your monthly pass on PRESTO.
