Summer Student Program

The City of Hamilton accepts applications in December for summer student jobs for students who are enrolled at a secondary or post-secondary institution or institution of higher learning.

There are four categories that you can apply for:

  • Returning (only for students that completed the full summer term last year)
  • General labourers
  • Recreation
  • Course specific
Public Health Post-Secondary Student Placements

Public Health Services accepts students for the following placements:

  • Unpaid student placements
  • Nursing (BScN/MN)
  • Masters of Social Work
  • Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Masters of Public Health
  • Other students
  • Family Therapy


High School Co-op Student Program

The City of Hamilton supports the high school co-op program which is standardized by the Board of Education.  High school students in grades 11 & 12 are required to complete a work experience to be counted towards graduation.

Post-Secondary Student Placements

Students registered at a post-secondary level are eligible for placement in the following:

  • Co-op program
  • Internships
  • Apprenticeships
