Public Health Inspections for Child Care Centres
Public health inspectors check all licensed daycares, before and after school programs and preschools in Hamilton for safe food handling and infection control. We visit these places:
- For regular inspections between one and three times per year
- During disease outbreaks
- For follow-up on a complaint received by Public Health
- For presentations to staff
Requirements the inspectors check for can be found in the:
- Health Protection and Promotion Act
- Ontario Public Health Standards
- Designation of Diseases, Ontario Regulation 135/18
- Regulation 137/15 under the authority of the Child Care and Early Years Act
- Ontario Food Premises Regulation
