Join us at your local recreation centre and explore the new 55+ programs just for you - It’s Your Day!
Funded in partnership with the Ontario Sport and Recreation Communities Fund, 55+ It’s Your Day provides older adult opportunities to participate in physical movement programs, fitness classes, and educational workshops. Four locations will host a dedicated 55+ Day with a variety of drop-in and registered program options, once a week for approximately one year.
For patrons ages 55+
Our goal is to ensure older adults can recreate in a variety of environments while building social connections with fellow patrons.
Registered programs will be running on a 4-week basis and will allow a portion of the patrons to participate on a drop-in first come, first serve basis. Patrons can access drop-in programs through the use of the following memberships:
- Senior Participation Pass $41.62/ year
- Senior Centre Membership $32.25/year. Visit your local Senior Centre to purchase.
- First visit is free!
Recreation Fee Assistance options are available to patrons or visit your local recreation centre for more information.

30 Min Stretch
30 minute stretch and relaxation class. Slow and gentle movements that will engage you in breathing exercises and stress relief. Increase flexibility and strive to lengthen your muscles.
30 Min Core
30 minute series of core strengthening exercises. Use of body weight in a floorbased class. Variety of exercises repeated to stabilize the spine by strengthening the muscles around the torso. Breathing techniques encouraged.
30 Min Cardio+
30 minutes of continuous high intensity exercises. Interval style class with rapid transitions between vertical and horizontal movements.
30 Min Power
30 minutes of strengthening exercises using weighted equipment. Shape and tone your muscles by safely increasing weight amounts gradually. Work to strengthen muscles and increase capacity to lift. Challenge your endurance levels each class.
Exercises increasing your agility, balance and coordination
Fitness for everyday life, focusing on mobility, stability and agility helping with every day activities. Functional fitness promotes healthy, active and safe aging with a focus on balance/coordination for prevention of falls and/or muscle strains.
Walking program assisted with poles. Walking at different intervals with an engaged core and use of arms to propel. Poles are provided on site on a first come, first serve basis.
An unstructured gym time open to 55+ patrons and their grandchildren of any age.
Cards, board games and free coffee and tea!

Bring in your smart phone or tablet and a staff will be there to help answer any questions.
