Maplewood Park

Thank you to all who attended the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on June 16, 2018.  We appreciated your support and participation.


Maplewood Park is 7.15 hectares (18.71 Acres) in size and is located on Second Road West, Hamilton (Ward 9).  The park is bordered by single-family housing units and Mt. Albion Public School.  Pathway access to the park is provided off Second Road W, Parkvista Place, Sutton Court, Dolman Street, Carlson Street and Gatestone Drive.

Background

The existing amenities within the park include:

  • Soccer fields
  • A washroom facility
  • Play equipment
  • At-grade parking
  • Walking paths
  • Open space

In 2016, the site was selected to construct a new spray pad to service the surrounding Upper Stoney Creek area.  The new park improvements will include:

  • A spray pad
  • Lighting
  • Seating
  • Bicycle racks
  • An updated washroom facility, including an overhang to provide shade for spray pad users

Progress

  • December 2016 – Preliminary Drawing preparation
  • June 2017 – Final Construction Drawing pubmission
  • September 2017 – Tender Award
  • February 2018 – Start of construction
  • June 2018 – Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, June 16, 2018 at 11 am
  • June to July 2018 - Construction Wrap up for Washroom Facility and General Site Cleanup
