What to wear

  • When using City of Hamilton pools, all swimmers must change from street clothes to a swim suit and/or clean clothing used for swimming only.
  • Clothing worn in the pool must be free from rips/tears and permit individuals to participate safely in programs.
  • Denim (including cut-offs) are not permitted.
  • All swim attire must be appropriate for a general audience.

Recommendations for safe swimming attire

  • Clothing should be a light weight fabric
  • Form fitted clothes are preferred
  • Lifeguards may, at any time, ask for a demonstration of swimming ability if they feel there is a question of the participant’s safety. Please refer to the Facility Swim Test.

Reminders

  • Organizations should contact the Recreation Fee Assistance office at 905-546-2424  ext. 4659 for different program options.
  • Swim programs: To ensure safety, the Swim Admission Criteria will be enforced during all drop-in swim programs.
  • Gym programs: Open Gym - An unstructured gym time open to specific ages. Gym equipment will be made available if attendance warrants safe usage. Gym is supervised, but no structured programming is provided. Family Gym - Open to all ages with parent (guardian) supervision.
