Providing youth the opportunity to participate in basketball programming in their neighbourhood
Now in its fourth year, the Neighbourhood Hoops Program is designed to give every single child or youth the opportunity to learn the game of basketball. Over 500 youth ages, 9 to 14 have participated in the skills-based basketball development program citywide.
Free 10 Week Skill Development Program will have children and youth learning basketball skills from certified coaches in a fun and engaging environment through a variety of games and activities. Each week players will participate in 30 minutes of skill development and 30 minutes of organized 3 on 3 games. Program participants are divided into age groups and by gender: Grade 4, 5, 6 & Grade 7, 8, 9.

High school students are encouraged to acquire their volunteer hours with the Neighbourhood Hoops Program.
Volunteer positions include:
- Score Keeper
- Program Facilitator (supporting head instructors)
Complete the 2019 Neighbourhood Hoops Volunteer Application Form (PDF, 285 KB)
All volunteers will receive:
- Up to 20 volunteer hours towards requirement for High School graduation (if applicable)
- Invitation to the Hoops Finale
- Criminal Reference Check Required
