Prenatal Classes

In-class prenatal classes remain closed. Free online prenatal classes are available to learn more about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and newborn care in an interactive way.  Register online by completing the Online Prenatal Program Registration Form. Healthy Growth and Development Services
Healthy Growth and Development Program services that remain closed during the COVID-19 pandemic 
include parenting sessions (i.e., Parenting With Love, Triple P), in-class prenatal sessions, Car Seat Clinics, Check-it Out drop ins, and in-person Welcome Baby prenatal nutrition groups (Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program -CPNP).

is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. We help expecting families and families that have children 0-6 years of age. You can learn and ask questions about: breastfeeding, child safety, growth and development, healthy eating, positive parenting, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, preparing for a healthy pregnancy and other programs and services in Hamilton.

Public Health Services’ breastfeeding support can be accessed by calling the Health Connections phone line at 905-546-3550. 

Welcome Baby prenatal nutrition groups (Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program - CPNP) are accepting new participants who are pregnant and looking for extra support. Currently we are offering phone support and mailing resources while in-person groups are closed. For more information and details on how to register visit

Pregnant individuals may choose to receive the vaccine at any time during their pregnancy. It is recommended, but not required, that pregnant individuals have a discussion with their treating health care provider, or with a health care provider familiar with their pregnancy.

The City of Hamilton offers in person group prenatal classes for residents of Hamilton

Call Public Health at 905-546-3591 Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm to register.

  • The fee for in person group prenatal classes (4-week evening or 2-day Saturday) is $53 tax included.
  • There is no charge for prenatal drop in groups for young women.
  • There is no charge for online prenatal classes.
  • Low income families may request assistance with fees.
  • Fees cover both the pregnant woman and her partner or support person.
  • You may pay for classes after you receive your registration letter in the mail.
  • Accepted forms of payment include cheque or money order.
