Claremont update: Second down-bound lane opening Wednesday, full down-bound closure Tuesday evening
Breastfeeding gives babies a healthy start to life. In Ontario, nine out of 10 mothers make the decision to breastfeed. Many plan to continue to breastfeed for months, a year or several years. Many mothers however, stop breastfeeding earlier than they planned.
The World Health Organization started the Baby Friendly Initiative. The initiative encourages health services to provide the best care for mothers to help them start and continue breastfeeding. Public Health Services is currently seeking the Baby Friendly designation.
For parents using public health services, you can expect us to:
- Provide information to help you decide how to feed your baby
- Offer services to your family whether you are breastfeeding or bottle feeding your baby
- Support you to breastfeed for as long as you choose
- Welcome breastfeeding in all areas where we provide services and provide a quiet space for breastfeeding if you need one
We will not promote or provide formula advertisements or give out formula samples.
