Community Centre Camp locations offer full day, registered, two week day camp programs

Our most popular day camp program geared to 4- and 5-year olds. This program will introduce campers to a full-day camp experience. Preschool campers will participate in age appropriate activities with a focus on outdoor play, building friendships, gross motor skill development, songs, circle time, stories and crafts, and outdoor water play. Participants must be able to use the washroom independently and be at least 4 years old at start date of program.

  • Fee: $261.60 per two-week block
  • Hours: Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Organized camp activities start at 9 am and end at 4 pm.
  • Routine: Each camp and camper group will have a unique routine specific to their facility and amenities.
In general, a typical day at camp will look like this:
  • 8 to 9 am: Drop off at camp includes health screening, group activities and free play
  • 9 to 9:45 am: Welcome, cooperative games, songs
  • 9:45 to 10:30 am: Snack and water break with story time
  • 10:30 to 11:30 am: Active games outside
  • 11:30 to 12:30 pm: Lunch
  • 12:30 to 1:30 pm: Craft time, creative play
  • 1:30 to 2:30 pm: Water games outside
  • 2:30 to 3:30 pm: Snack and water break, quiet games
  • 3:30 to 4 pm: Goodbye circle, songs
  • 4 to 5 pm: Group activities and free play, pick up from camp

Theme day
Each week of camp will have a planned theme day on Fridays. Campers will be encouraged to join staff in dressing up and participating in a variety of special events.

*Swimming instruction is not offered at the Winona location, however special programming will be offered at this site.

The City of Hamilton is excited to offer an enhanced youth camp - now with themes and special guests every week! Each morning includes themed activities, projects and adventures. Afternoons are guided entirely by campers who can choose from swimming, hiking, chill time and more.

  • Fee: $313.10 per two-week block
  • Hours: Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. 

Creative Arts Camp
Embrace your creative side – whatever that looks like to you! Enjoy a mix of special guests and activities such as art, music, singing, drama, photography, writing and more.
Dates: July 19 to 30, August 16 to 27

Nature and Wellness Camp
Get outside and get in in touch with nature. Explore some of Hamilton’s scenery while taking part in activities such as geocaching, mood walks, outdoor yoga/meditation, gardening and more.
Dates: July 5 to 16

Sports and Fitness
A week focused on sportsmanship, participation, fitness and fun! Build fundamental movement skills through activities including swimming, soccer, basketball, baseball, floor hockey, team games and more.

Tween and Teen Connections is an adapted and inclusive summer recreation and socialization program for campers who need additional support. This camp will be delivered by dedicated program staff who supervise activities and assist with age-appropriate games, walking trips, sports, hobbies, social activities and swimming. Ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3.

  • Fee: $313.10 per two-week block. Participants can register for a maximum of two weeks, with the possibility of additional weeks based on availability.
  • Hours: Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

Meeting the needs of the individual so all kids can play.
The Support Program is available for campers with disabilities or special needs who require additional support in order to integrate and participate in Camp Kidaca and Youth programs. Support staff encourage participation, while maintaining safety and care in a fun and stimulating environment!

Camp support options

City supplied support staff are available and provided at no additional cost for families. Due to high demand, registration is limited to two weeks per participant. Note: Registration in the Camp Kidaca program is still required.

Additional support includes:

  • increased supervision by a trained, support worker dedicated to the care and safety of the camper at all times
  • assistance with bathroom, changing and eating
  • adaptation of camp programs for all participants
  • facilitation and encouragement of friendships and appropriate social interaction
  • opportunity to see the camp facility and meet the staff before the summer begins

Support staff are available 40 hours a week, 8 hours per day. Parents can request daily program hours of 8 am to 4 pm, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm or 9 am to 5 pm.

You may provide your own support person. We welcome support persons who assist participants with a disability or special needs. Support persons are hired or chosen by the participant to provide assistance throughout the camp day. There are no fees charged for support persons (registration in the Camp Kidaca program still required).

Prior to the camp start date, the parent/guardian and the support person must review and sign the External Support Person Guidelines. To ensure the safety and positive experience for all participants, we ask that support persons adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Support persons should have the maturity and knowledge to make decisions and sound judgment relating to the participant’s wellbeing and care.
  • Support persons may not leave the program/program area with the participant unless permission is received from parent/guardian.
  • Support persons will provide the camp counsellor with suggestions and input for adapted/ modified programming.

Registered for Camp - What to expect

We are glad to be back! Here is some new information for 2021.

The City of Hamilton will be following guidelines from the Ministry of Health’s Covid-19 Guidance: Summer Day Camps as well as any direction from the City of Hamilton Public Health Services.  Learn more about precautions we are taking in camp (PDF, 95 KB)

It is important that your child completes a daily health screening prior to coming to camp.  Please stay home if your child has even one symptom related to COVID-19.

Masks
Please send your child with clean masks every day. Masks will be required during all indoor activities and outdoor activities within 2m.

List of items to send with your camper(s):

  • Mask (s) that cover the nose, mouth and chin
  • Healthy snacks             
  • Lunch
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Hat      
  • Sunscreen
  • Bathing suit and towel
  • Running shoes or athletic sandals (no flip flops)
  • Easy to carry backpack or bag
  • Weather appropriate clothing (jacket, rain boots)

If your child has symptoms related to Covid-19, please stay home from camp. Parents should follow the COVID at Home Protocol (PDF, 172 KB) to determine when it is safe for their child to return to camp.

Upon return, parents must complete and sign an attestation form (PDF, 89 KB) and return to [email protected].

Drive thru Drop Off – easy as 1, 2, 3

  1. Safely pull up to the designated drop off zone and be greeted by camp staff
  2. Show your child’s completed daily health screening on your mobile device
  3. When asked to do so, allow campers to safely exit the car

Camper Pick up

  • Any adult authorized to pick-up campers will need to be identified on the Camper’s Information form (PDF, 304 KB).
  • When picking up, please be ready to show photo identification.
  • Campers will not be released unless the individual picking up is identified on the form and shows photo identification. Thanks for your cooperation.

All children and youth attending recreation programs are expected to behave in a manner which ensures their own safety and the safety of other participants, staff and volunteers in the program. Staff are trained to create environments that reduce behaviours, group management techniques and encouraging appropriate behaviour in program.

When responding to behaviours, staff will follow steps in the Behaviour Management Protocol. Parents/Guardians are required to sign off that they understand the Behaviour Management Protocol and will comply with expectations set for children and youth in programs.  Sign off on the Behaviour Management Protocol is located on the Camper Information Form (PDF, 304 KB)

Refund policy

For Camp Kidaca (one-week or two-week block) programs, a refund will be issued if notification is received 14 days prior to the beginning of the program. After that time and up to the start of program there will be a withdrawal fee charged. After the program has started programs become non-refundable. Refund requests after the program has started will require manager approval, and a Refund Request Form (PDF, 188 KB) must be submitted. The refund (if approved) will be prorated based on the number of classes remaining from the date the request was received. 

COVID-19 refund protocol – if a camp cohort is suspended or cancelled, a pro-rated refund will be applied to your account.

Camp Kidaca subsidy options 

The Recreation Fee Assistance Program provides City of Hamilton residents living with a low income the opportunity to participate in organized sports and recreation programs. For more information, contact the Recreation Fee Assistance Office at [email protected]

Childcare Subsidy

You MUST be a current City of Hamilton Childcare Subsidy Client. Contact your Subsidy Eligibility Worker for more information. Authorization through your Subsidy Eligibility Worker must be received before April 26, 2021 and then you will be notified of your next steps.
