REC Child 9-12Child programs focus on more specific skill development, while continuing to promote positive participation, inclusive environments, confidence, and mastery. Many programs contain a Learn to Train component with opportunities to participate in multiple sports, promote more complex movement patterns, further develop one’s interests, and to develop the overall skills required to become active for life.


Dance programs provide an opportunity to develop skills and interests in a lively and inclusive environment. Programs available in this session include:

  • Hip Hop

Swimming Programs

Active Start within the aquatic setting engages children and adults with an environment for learning about water safety by providing the building blocks of key movement skills and fundamental properties of water.

In partnership with SOS4Kids, the Recreation division is pleased to offer this comprehensive safety program is best suited for children aged 9 to 12. Designed with families in mind to help prepare children to be responsible and care for themselves safely in the exciting and sometimes scary event of leaving them without adult supervision.

Home Alone Safety for Kids Please note - Registrations made between December 24, 2021 - January 4, 2022 will be processed on January 5, 2022 and related courses/accounts will be activated after this date, access is not immediate.
