City Rinks

City of Hamilton ice rinks open as of Saturday December 19, 2020 at these locations:

Winter is here and drop in skating is back. City ice rinks have extended hours of operation and are staffed between 8 am and 11 pm daily. Staff are on site at City operated outdoor rinks to maintain the ice and monitor COVID-19 safety measures.

Outdoor ice rinks are weather dependent, during extended periods of above 0-degree temperatures, ice conditions may require a closure.  Closure notifications will be posted both online and at the park. All scheduled ice sessions are cancelled during closures.

Reservations for City ice rinks are required

Reserve your spot at www.hamilton.ca/recreation/drop-in-skate. Tickets become available 7 days in advance. Skaters with reservations are to arrive no later than 15 minutes after the scheduled session time or ticket will be forfeit due to the popularity of these skates.

Community Rinks

Community ice rinks are operated in City parks by community volunteer committees. Rinks are operational as weather permits, and are open until 11 pm daily when lights are shut off.

There is no fee to use community rinks. No equipment, skate, helmet or stick rentals are available. All skating is done at the public’s own risk on all outdoor community ice rinks. With the exception of skating aids, no equipment (sticks and pucks) is permitted. Outdoor ice may have more imperfections than indoor ice, such as bumps, ruts, soft spots, etc. Wear your mask on and off the ice. The use of helmets is strongly recommended.

Volunteers are permitted to build community rinks in these approved parks starting December 19, 2020, however ice making and ice conditions are weather dependent:
