Famous Hamiltonian of the Year 

February 1 to 25, 2023:

Our social media will feature a campaign acknowledging the 10 previous Famous Hamiltonians of the Year, culminating in the announcement of the six nominees for the 2023 contest at Heritage Day, February 25th at Dundurn Castle. Online voting for the 2023 contest will take place throughout March.

Voting period for the 2023 Famous Hamiltonian Contest

The peoples’ choice for 2023 Famous Hamiltonian will be announced on social media channels at 4:30 pm, Friday March 31. The recipient will be celebrated at George Hamilton Day weekend programming in August.

Nomination period for The Reverend T. Melville Bailey Heritage Award for Lifetime Achievement

The award is given for contributions in the promotion and preservation of Hamilton’s heritage. Contributions may include publications, web-based communications, public or community art, service on committees, boards or commissions, and the preservation and promotion of heritage buildings or landscapes.

Heritage Day Celebration at Dundurn National Historic Site

The Coach House at Dundurn, 610 York Blvd., Hamilton
The Hamilton Wentworth Heritage Association and the Tourism and Culture Division of the City of Hamilton invite citizens to attend our Heritage Day celebration and social. Light food and beverages, and complimentary tours of Dundurn Castle to follow. The ceremony will include:  

• Greetings from the City of Hamilton, the Hamilton Wentworth Heritage Association and the Hamilton Municipal Heritage Committee
• Hamilton Heritage updates
• Revealing the 2023 Famous Hamiltonian Contest nominees and opening online voting
• Opening the nomination period for The Reverend T. Melville Bailey Heritage Award for Lifetime Achievement
