The Waterdown/Aldershot Transportation Master Plan or WATMP was conducted by the City of Hamilton, the City of Burlington and Halton Region (the Project Partners). The Master Plan identified a future transportation network that will service urban development in the community of Waterdown.
The City has initiated the Class EA process along Garner Road (Wilson Street to the Highway 403 off-ramp) to improve transportation infrastructure. Falling along the S-Line of the BLAST Rapid Transit Network, the study will ensure that the transit priority corridor supports multi-modal (pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles) safety, capacity, traffic management and consistency with neighbouring road segments on Garner Road. The project will also look at stormwater management, complete streets and servicing improvements needed along the road.
In 2020, the City completed the design for a new bus maintenance and storage facility (MSF) at 281 Birch Avenue. The purpose of the project is to increase the Transit Division’s maintenance and storage capacity to accommodate its existing and growing fleet as the City continues to improve transit service. This new facility represents a significant investment in Hamilton and supports the City’s ongoing commitment to transit expansion, as outlined in the Ten-Year Local Transit Strategy.
The City initiated a Municipal Class EA study to determine the feasibility of a westbound access ramp to Highway 403 in Ancaster in 2013.
As part of the Ancaster Transportation Master Plan (ATMP), City Council direction was to pursue the westbound ramp access to Highway 403 from Mohawk Road in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO).
The City of Hamilton initiated a Subwatershed and Class EA study for the Mid-Spencer Creek and Greensville Rural Settlement Area. Residents in the Greensville RSA and the subwatershed are currently serviced by private septic systems and groundwater-sourced municipal communal, private communal or individual wells.
The City has initiated a Municipal Class EA study process to develop and assess alternative solutions to replace the existing Main Street & Whitney Avenue (Main & Whitney, HD17A) Water Pumping Station (WPS).
