City of Hamilton and Hamilton Waterfront Trust seek public input on Bayfront Park Beach via online survey
HAMILTON, ON - September 7, 2016 - The City of Hamilton and the Hamilton Waterfront Trust are seeking the public’s input on Bayfront Park Beach and are inviting residents to participate in a short online survey.
The feedback collected will help identify opportunities for improvements at a beach that was originally intended to be a place for swimming. Bayfront Park Beach was closed for the 2016 swimming season because of poor water quality.
The survey is geared to both waterfront users and anyone who has not visited the area in a while, with the goal of understanding how people use that area now and to determine how it will be used in the future. Based on the feedback provided by respondents, some potential solutions for Bayfront Park Beach may include closing the beach permanently, turning the beach into a wetland or other naturalized area, improving the beach quality for land recreation activities such as beach volleyball, or improving the beach and water quality for both land and water recreation (such as swimming).
Residents may also provide their input about the future of Bayfront Park Beach at West Harbour Community Conversation meetings and public discussions. For more information, visit www.hamilton.ca/westharbour
