Firefighters respond to early evening fire at Hamilton Waterfront
HAMILTON, ON - June 21, 2016 - Hamilton Fire Department responded to a report of smoke conditions at a large industrial building located at 695 Catharine Street North at approximately 5:20 pm this evening. Upon arrival, crews reported heavy smoke and fire conditions in this 150’ x 600’ industrial building and as a result the alarm was then upgraded to a multiple alarm bringing additional fire crews to the scene.
Extinguishment of the fire was difficult due to heavy smoke conditions but was brought under control by an aggressive interior fire attack limiting damage to the north east section of the building.
There were no reported injuries to the public or firefighters. The Office of the Fire Marshal has been contacted to assist in determining the cause and a damage estimate is not available at this time.
