Business Recycling Program Update
At the July 15, 2026 meeting of City Council, Council approved the collection of curbside blue box recycling from businesses and other non-residential properties, such as places of worship to April 2, 2027 with the intention to extend it to the end of the current waste collection contract which currently expires on March 31, 2029. This further extension to 2029 will be considered with the City’s 2027 tax operating budget. Under Ontario’s Blue Box Regulation (O. Reg. 391/21), these properties are not eligible for Ontario’s new provincial Blue Box Program that provides recycling to residential properties.
