Remembrance Day – Field of Flags
Hamilton Municipal Cemeteries is honoured to pay tribute to our fallen each November, by placing Canadian Flags in front of our Historic Gate House at Hamilton Cemetery at 777 York Blvd. Flags are also placed in front of the headstones of veterans in the Field of Honour at Woodland Cemetery.
We are also proud to host the annual No Stones Left Alone Ceremony each November at the Field of Honour at Woodland Cemetery.
Decoration Day
A is a longstanding tradition that honours the memory of those who have served, sacrificed, and shaped our community. Rooted in Canadian history, Decoration Day predates Remembrance Day and reflects an enduring commitment to respect, remembrance, and civic gratitude. Decoration Day is hosted by the City of Hamilton’s Veterans Committee.
A Service of Remembrance - Holiday Memorial Service
The holiday season is a time for families to draw together for celebration and warm memories. Hamilton Municipal Cemeteries realizes for those who have lost a loved one the Christmas season can be difficult.
This meaningful service offers a quiet and compassionate space for remembrance, recognizing that the holidays can be both a season of joy and a time of reflection for those carrying loss. Through words of comfort, music, and shared moments of remembrance, we come together to honour memories that continue to shape our lives.
The Remembrance Memorial Service is open to all, regardless of faith or background, and is designed to be inclusive, respectful, and reflective. Attendees are invited to remember those they have lost, find comfort in community, and acknowledge the enduring bonds of love and remembrance.
Join us for a special Memorial Service of Remembrance and lighting of the Tree of Remembrance to remember those who have passed. All are welcome, please confirm your attendance by calling 905-546-4704.
Trees of Remembrance
The Trees of Remembrance display is an acknowledgment of a life that has been lived and the memories that they endure. Trees of Remembrance offer a gentle and meaningful way to honour the memory of loved ones during the holiday season. Set within the peaceful grounds of Hamilton Municipal Cemeteries, each tree becomes a living symbol of remembrance, reflection, and enduring love. The Trees of Remembrance will be lit nightly from December 1until January 7. The tribute of light will take place in front of Hamilton Municipal Cemetery at 777 York Blvd.
