Reading your HUB Bill

Review the screenshot and descriptions of the new HUB water bill to get a better understanding of your new bill.

1. Account Information

• Account Number: Use this number for inquiries and payments. If paying by online or telephone banking, please make your payments to Hamilton Utilities Billing.
• Service Address: The address we deliver water to and its unique identifier.

2. Account Summary

• Bill Date: Identifies when the bill is prepared.
• Previous Bill: What you paid on your last bill.
• Current Bill: Amount owed on this bill. This will be zero unless something is owing.

3. Total Amount & Due Date

• Total Amount Due: Refers to the total amount that you owe. If you have arrears, they will be added to the total amount.
• Due Date: Indicates the last day the payment will be accepted before late fees are applied.

4. Meter Readings

• Meter #: This is your meter identification number.
• Meter Size: This shows the size of the meter, and your ‘fixed charges’ are based on the meter size.
• Billing Period From - To: This is the meter reading period, also known as the billing period. Your bill covers all the water charges you have to pay for in this period. A billing period is generally around 30 days, but that can vary.
• Usage: Water usage measured in cubic meters (m3) during the current meter reading period.
• Read Type: This indicates whether your water usage for the current billing period is based on an actual meter reading or if it was estimated.  If your bill is estimated, you can call us at 905-546-8630 or email [email protected].

5. Current Charges

• Current Charges: Your water and wastewater charges, including the Council approved per cubic meter (m³) rate effective January 1 of the current year (or applicable fixed charge), your measured usage, and the total amount owing.
• Block 1 (Lower Rate): The first 10 cubic metres (m³) of water used for every 30-day billing period is charged at a lower rate.
• Block 2 (Regular Rate): Any water used above 10 m³ during the billing period is charged at the regular rate.

6. Usage Profile

• Usage Profile: This provides a snapshot of your usage.
• Last Year: This is your consumption for the same month last year.
• Last month: Your consumption for the previous month.
• This Month: Your consumption for the current billed month.
