Single session mental health counselling
Children, youth and their families are now able to walk-in for a single session. Walk-in sessions are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Hamilton Public Health Services provides a variety of mental health services including brief and time-limited counselling and therapy services, street outreach and case management.

Everyone’s mental health changes over time. It is common to have ups and downs in our mood, energy, or focus. Small, everyday actions can help people feel mentally healthy and build resilience, making life’s challenges easier to manage.
There are many ways to care for your mental health. Different things work for different people. Reaching out for support early, whether from trusted people, community supports, or services, is a strong and healthy choice.
Just like physical health our mental health may need extra care and attention at different points in life. Below are some tips and resources to help you take care of your mental health.
Take care of your physical health
- Build and maintain a healthy sleep routine. Many adults aim for 7-9 hours per night.
- Choose foods that support your health
- Be physically active in ways that feel right for you
- Avoid or reduce the use of alcohol and other substances
Stay socially connected
- Build and maintain strong social connections. Focus on relationships that make you feel supported and valued.
- Engage with your community in ways that feel right for you.
- Find ways to volunteer
- Attend local cultural events
- Talk to your neighbours
Have a sense of purpose and meaning in life
- Participate in activities, cultural practices, or hobbies you enjoy

- Ontario Structured Psychotherapy West Region - Provides free, short‑term support for adults (18+) in Ontario who have depression or anxiety.
