Ongoing Community Safety Efforts
The City of Hamilton and its partners continue to advance initiatives that strengthen community safety and inclusion:
- Downtown Revitalization Strategy: A 10-year plan in development with community input to revitalize the downtown core, with safety as a key focus.
- Hamilton Police Hate Crime Statistics (2024): Annual reporting of hate- and bias-motivated incidents to increase transparency and awareness.
- Community Safety & Well-Being Plan: A renewed citywide framework that emphasizes prevention, early intervention, and inclusive engagement.
- Gender-Based Safety Audit: Conducted with YWCA Hamilton, this audit examines how safe public spaces feel for women, girls, and gender-diverse residents.
- Hamilton Police Community Safety Survey (2025): Conducted with Wilfrid Laurier University to better understand residents’ perceptions of safety citywide.
