`The off-site construction of 257 King William is bringing an innovative first to Hamilton, with a housing delivery model that increases the speed of delivery, while improving the quality of construction.
CityHousing Hamilton is pleased to announce that this project has been awarded a 2022 Silver WAN Award in the Future Projects – Residential category.
This modular housing project is a new affordable rental housing development consisting of 24 studio apartments, along with shared amenities including a community room, meeting room, lounge, and laundry facility. The project is estimated to be complete mid-2023.
The project is targeting Passive House Certification and utilizes modular construction, leveraging the superior quality control afforded by prefabricated production to ensure a high-quality, sustainable product within an accelerated timeframe. Replacing an existing surface parking lot situated between a church and a multi-unit residential building, the project also represents a prime example of a sensitive infill development within a dense urban setting. The Silver WAN Award recipient demonstrates that attractive affordable housing options can be designed and delivered in a timely, sustainable, and cost-effective manner.
