Hamilton Municipal Cemeteries is entrusted with the stewardship of more than 70 cemetery properties across the city. Each location reflects a unique legacy—some dating back more than 200 years—and together, they form a network of historical, cultural, and spiritual significance.

Our cemeteries serve families of all faiths, cultures, and traditions. With cremation, burial, natural interment, and memorial options available, we help families create meaningful tributes that reflect their values while preserving the stories of those who shaped our community.

Our Family Services Team will assist you through every step of planning, ensuring your wishes align with natural burial principles and cemetery standards. Our experienced staff offer compassionate, non-obligatory support in navigating burial planning—whether for immediate need or future arrangements.

We can help with:

Cemetery Property Options

Like funeral homes, cemeteries can provide many dignified options for a family, depending on their personal taste and budget. You can select individual burial spaces for a casket or urn (if selecting cremation) or a group of spaces for multiple family members. We encourage families to discuss the various options with our family services coordinator.

Interment Right prices (graves, crypts and cremation niches) can vary widely from one location to another within each of our 71 cemeteries. Not all options are available at all of our cemeteries. The information provided are guidelines. For more specific information relating to our prices, or any other issues, please contact the cemetery office for a detailed price list and availability for any of our 70 cemeteries.

Prices do not include HST (13%). Non-Resident rates require an additional 25% assessment on all property sales. Prices are valid until December 31, 2025.

Hamilton Municipal Cemeteries offers a wide range of service option. Prices may change without notice. HST is not included. Hamilton Municipal Cemeteries offers interest free and no administration fees on 12 and 24 monthly payment plans for all pre-need cemetery arrangements. Please contact us to discuss cremation and burial options. Our Family Service Coordinators are not commission sales people.

Service Options, Choices, and Considerations

These are only guidelines, as we can customize any of our cemetery options to meet your needs.

Traditional Burial – Family Lot (Two Grave Lot) - Upright Monument

Traditional burial remains a meaningful choice for many families and includes:

• Casketed interment in a designated grave
• Single or companion plots
• Monuments and markers, ranging from flush markers to upright headstones
• Family plots allowing generations to be memorialized together

Considerations: grave location, monument regulations, requirement for vaults, and pre-planning opportunities.

Cremorial Package Woodland Cemetery

Cremation offers flexible and personal memorial choices. The Cremorial located at Woodland   Cemetery provides an unique option for individual or double interment options. No urn is required for Cremorial Niche. Cremorial Niche has a bronze plaque memorial option.

Columbarium Package Granite Columbarium

Columbarium niches provide a permanent, above-ground resting place for cremated remains. These structures are crafted from durable granite and feature individual compartments (niches) designed to house urns securely.

Granite engraved columbariums are available the following cemeteries: Woodland, Mount Hamilton, Mountview Gardens, Glanbrook, Eastlawn, Grove and Parkside Cemeteries.

Columbarium Package Tranquility Gardens

Tranquility Gardens Columbariums at Woodland Cemetery is situated overlooking the waterfront surrounded by a serene and tranquil garden and walking paths. These structures are crafted from durable granite and feature individual compartments (niches) designed to house urns securely. This unique has a bronze plaque option for memorialization.

Upper Niches $8,990.00 + HST
Lower Niches $8,365.00 + HST

Cremation Bench Package

A granite cremation bench can provide a serene place for family and friends to rest and reflect. A cremation bench is a memorial structure designed to honour the life of a person who chose cremation. It functions both as a seating feature and as a lasting tribute, similar to how a headstone marks a traditional burial. The cremation bench also houses cremated remains within its structure. These units are customized and can be located in most of our cemeteries.

Private Family Niche Package

A granite two panel private niche can provide a serene private interment option. Private Niche Units offer families a distinguished and enduring way to memorialize loved ones together within a shared columbarium space. Designed for those who value continuity, legacy, and a unified place of remembrance, these units provide both flexibility and permanence. These units are customized and can be located in most of our cemeteries. There are additional options to accommodate additional niches and customization.
