Park Roadway Paving
The City of Hamilton is pleased to announce the completion of roadway paving improvements at Heritage Green Sports Park (355 First Road West, Hamilton).
This project supports the City’s vision of being the best place to raise a child and age successfully by enhancing safety, accessibility, and the overall visitor experience within the park. The improvements also contribute to a healthier and more sustainable environment by reducing airborne dust, minimizing associated environmental impacts, extending the service life of the roadway, and lowering ongoing operational and maintenance costs related to dust control activities.
The project involved the paving of the existing granular roadway extending from First Road West to Echovalley Drive, including the roundabout. These upgrades have improved the durability, functionality, and accessibility of the roadway while providing a smoother and more reliable travel experience for visitors, staff, and service vehicles accessing the park. These improvements will help ensure Heritage Green Sports Park continues to serve residents and visitors as a safe, accessible, and well-maintained recreational destination for years to come.
This project was fully funded by the Heritage Green Community Trust. The City of Hamilton gratefully acknowledges the Trust’s generous support and continued dedication to enhancing community infrastructure and recreational amenities. Through their funding of this project, the Heritage Green Community Trust has increased the long-term sustainability, accessibility, and enjoyment of Heritage Green Sports Park for the benefit of the community.
Wheelchair Accessible Swing
The City of Hamilton is pleased to introduce the newly installed “We-Go” wheelchair accessible swing at Heritage Green Sports Park (355 First Road West, Hamilton). The addition of the wheelchair accessible swing supports the City of Hamilton’s Vision to be the best place to raise a child and age successfully and aligns with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (Design of Public Spaces Standards).
This wheelchair accessible swing let’s kids of all abilities play together on a fully inclusive swing. With barrier free and transfer free access for users, it is a welcome addition to the many play opportunities at Heritage Green Sports Park.
The “We-Go-Swing” is a step forward in inclusive play experiences. Designed to be integrated into the playground setting, this swing lets kids of all abilities play together and experience the thrill of swinging. With no need to transfer, the We-Go-Swing opens a whole new world of playground fun.
The installation of this new play feature could not have been made possible without the generous contribution from the Heritage Green Community Trust, in which the Heritage Green Community Trust Grant funded a portion of the wheelchair accessible swing.
