Supporting Hamilton's transit system
As Hamilton grows, HSR continues to improve transit service for residents across the city.
The Birch Transit Centre provides additional space to store and maintain buses, helping keep them in good condition and ready for service each day. The facility supports transit operations behind the scenes and plays an important role in keeping buses on the road for residents.
Supporting transit improvements
The Birch Transit Centre is an important part of HSR’s ongoing work to improve transit service and support a growing city. The facility also supports the goals of HSR Next, the City’s plan to modernize public transit.
Construction of the Birch Transit Centre began in 2023 and was completed in 2026.
The $390.4-million Birch Transit Centre project was funded through investments from all three levels of government:
- Government of Canada: $142.8 million
- Government of Ontario: $92.6 million
