Fare Assist Program
Hamilton residents with household incomes below the Low-Income Measure qualify for a 50% Fare Assist discount on single-ride PRESTO fares—for themselves and their family. Eligibility is based on Total Household Income, regardless of income source.

Enjoy summer fun together and discover Hamilton by bus with the HSR Kids Quest Passport. Visit five family-friendly destinations across the city and make exploring easy, affordable and memorable.
From June 28 to September 5, 2026, families can explore Hamilton together using the HSR Kids Quest Passport. Visit museums, recreation centres, libraries and other family-friendly destinations across the city. At each stop, children receive a sticker in their passport by showing their PRESTO card.
Complete all five stops to receive a collectible HSR Kids Quest pin for your child (available while supplies last). Parents and caregivers who complete the survey will be entered for a chance to win a $250 PRESTO card voucher, City of Hamilton recreation passes and more.
How to Complete your Quest
Visit five participating locations across Hamilton between June 28 and September 5, 2026. Complete the first four stops in any order and at your own pace, then finish your quest at HSR Customer Service at the Hamilton GO Centre.
Passports will be available at all participating locations beginning June 28.

- Any Hamilton Public Library branch — a great place to start if your child needs a free PRESTO card
- All City of Hamilton recreation centre
- One of the seven City of Hamilton museums (remember to bring your HPL card for free admission):
- Battlefield House Museum & Park National Historic Site
- Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology
- Hamilton Children’s Museum
- Whitehern Historic House & Garden
- Dundurn National Historic Site (Dundurn Castle and Hamilton Military Museum)
- Fieldcote Memorial Park & Museum
- Griffin House National Historic Site
- Tourism Hamilton, 28 James Street North
Final Stop
Complete the quest at HSR Customer Service at Hamilton GO Centre, 36 Hunter Street East to get your child’s passport embossed, pick up a collectible pin, and complete the survey for a chance to win.
Child & Youth Fares
Children ages 6 to 12 ride free with a PRESTO card, and children under 5 ride free when accompanied by a paying customer.
Does your child need a PRESTO card?
No problem! Show your library card at any Hamilton Public Library to get a free kids PRESTO card. Before you hop on the bus to start the quest, visit a City of Hamilton Municipal Service Centre, City Hall, or select Fortinos or Shoppers Drug Mart location with proof of age to activate the child discount!
