Placemaking Event Programming
The City of Hamilton is proud to support a number of placemaking projects that will animate outdoor public spaces during the summer of 2023. The arts programming presented aligns with the 2021-2025 Economic Development Action Plan priority to revitalize priority areas through placemaking.
73' To Infinity: Road to Hip-Hop
A dance series showcasing the various genres of music and their accompanying dance styles that led to the emergence of Hip-Hop Culture, and how it continues to evolve. Jazz, Blues, Rock n Roll, Soul Music, Motown R&B, Latin Boogoloo, Funk and many more have contributed to the sounds, style and movement of a culture celebrating 50 years this August.
Featuring dance, live DJ's, and live musical performances, 73’ to Infinity will bring the essence of the block party to outdoor locations across Hamilton.
This is a free family event for all ages presented by the City of Hamilton and curated by Josh Taylor, Defining Movement Dance.

Pop Ups at Pier 8
Pop Ups at Pier 8 is an event series presented by the City of Hamilton. The goal of the series is to provide inclusive and fun outdoor programming to encourage exploration along Pier 8 with something for everyone! All events are free unless otherwise noted. The pop-ups are programmed by Whitney McMeekin (Girl on the Wing/ Hamilton Flea) and feature a variety of vendors and community partners. We can't wait to see you!

Concrete Canvas Festival
Concrete Canvas is a multi-day visual arts festival where local and internationally acclaimed artists alike gather in Hamilton to paint murals live across the city in an effort to elevate the visual landscape of the city while simultaneously inspiring a new generation of artists. Dozens of new murals will be added in public spaces over the summer with the majority added during the festival period of August 6 to 13, 2023. This year’s Concrete Canvas Festival includes a 50th year of Hip Hop Celebration at Pier 4 Park from August 12 to 13. This free event features live musical performances and world class break dancing that are guaranteed to make you move as well as a vendor and artist market and food trucks.
