Macassa Lodge will expand its existing facility to 290 beds, adding 20 new beds and redeveloping 44 existing ones, with the creation of a new 64-bed B-Wing. This project is a key step in modernizing and expanding long-term care in Hamilton, meeting the growing needs of seniors in the community. The City of Hamilton appreciates the Ministry of Long-Term Care and Ontario Health for their ongoing partnership in advancing this important project.
This project is set for completion by 2027 to accommodate critical remediation work following the identification of a slab-on-grade settlement issue impacting the new building expansion. The remediation work includes full slab and affected subbase removal and replacement to ensure the long-term safety, quality and reliability of the facility. The City is focused on resolving the issue effectively, managing cost impacts responsibly and completing the project to the highest standards, to deliver safe, modern long-term care spaces for the community.
