Maximum/Adequate Temperature By-law
Council have directed staff to explore options for the development of a Maximum or Adequate Temperature By-law to impose a maximum indoor temperature of 26°C in rental units, during summer months. We want your help to inform the proposed by-law recommendations.
Attention Hamilton renters: The eviction timeline for unpaid rent in Ontario has changed. As of September 21, 2026, if you receive an eviction notice for unpaid rent, you now have only seven days to pay back what you owe before your landlord can apply to legally evict you.
